The sixth MVA was held in July 2001. Five broad categories were contested i.e. Best of MVA 2001 Award, Professional Crafts and Experimental Film and Video, ASEAN Crafts and Best Short Film an HIV/Aids. The awards offered include Best Experimental Video (Amateur) – 18 years & below, Best Experimental Video (Amateur) – 19 years & above, Best Experimental Video (Amateur) – Animation, and Best Experimental Video – Professional.
