The first MVA presentation ceremony was held on 24 March
1995. It received a tremendous response, as this was the first time there
was such tribute to the individual craftsmen. The 18 Award categories included
Best Young Experimental Video Award, which was sponsored by the Ministry of
Culture, Arts and Tourism. This category has consistently unearthed budding
talent and the works of the 1998 winners were exhibited at both the Bangkok
2nd Short Film Festival and the Multimedia Art Asia Pacific Festival in Australia.
The festival included a forum and five seminars, which brought together like
minds to allow an exchange of experiences, and to explore ideas and perspectives
about directions in the industry.
