Malaysian Video Awards Festival (MVA)

Experimental Video:
Films, videos made in Malaysia or by Malaysians living or studying abroad for non-commercial use, completed between (August 1st 2004 and August 5th 2005). Work should illustrate an experimentation of content or form (ie. exploring non-conventional narrative structures, exploration of film / video / animation devices, etc). All work must be individually financed/self created and no professional fees or sponsorships should have been received. An experimental work is one that has no set structure, narrative or storytelling whether in the genre or auteur way. It is a process of discovery using various techniques& even the filmmaker does not know what he will end up with. Experimental must be seen as something that is different from the formalist approach, where technique is fore-grounded and the content of the film is actually in the way the technique is being used. Film duration should be no longer than 10 minutes inclusive of titles and credits. Exceptions will only be made in certain cases. Open to all age groups.

C03	Best Experimental Video: Amateur	Under 10 minutes Best use/experimentation of live action film or video media; 35mm film, 16mm film, V8, Digital etc. by a person currently not employed in the film/video community.
